I’m sure a lot of people will agree this year flew by! I can’t believe I’m sitting around trying to figure out Christmas gifts when it seems like only a short while ago I was getting excited for the warm, summer temperatures. This time of year is a great time for authors to cuddle up with their latest writing project or maybe read new novels to let their minds relax. My original plan was to sit back and read. I wanted to get lost in some books and take my mind away from the real world. I even had a list of books featured in a previous post; It’s Time To Start Making A Winter Reading List. With the list already typed up, I knew there was no reason to ignore those novels. It would be pretty silly for me to share the novels then not take an interest with at least one. Okay, so I will eventually buy a book and read through it. Then I’ll share a review with my followers. Blah, blah, blah. But the bigger portion of this blog is all about my journey to chase my author career. I hate to say it, but this year the holidays will put my author life on hold.
The novels I wrote in the Lyall Pack Series popped out of my mind in a rush. It’s kind of funny how simple they were for me to write. The same thing can’t be said for my latest murder mystery idea. As of right now, the story is still only an idea. I have studied topics over and over and have written out different plans. Not to mention the number of times I have typed up only to erase plot outlines. Needless to say, my new novel is not something I plan to finish before the end of the year. That means I won’t have the book availble for sale during the big holiday buys. If I would have thought up the idea at the beginning of the year, I could have drilled all my efforts into writing. Then there would have been more of a chance to make my book available for the holidays. There’s nothing I can do about that since I don’t have a time machine to kick my lazy butt into gear months ago. Instead I can only hope someone takes interest into Curse Under The Moon or looks into buying some of my art pieces at ShelbyBoydeArt.
I will be sharing new holiday pieces in my art shop today since it’s the first day of December. There are also a few more pieces in the beginning stages and they will be shared in my shop very soon. It’s always good to focus on the positives. Yay Christmas!
What are you excited about this time of year?
